Reading Soundscape for The Adventures of Tom Bombadil
Listen to subtle music and sounds of nature as you read Tolkien's poems!
We’re reading The Adventures of Tom Bombadil this month for the Year of Tolkien! If you missed the introductory post for this book, make sure you check it out to learn all about the production of this collection, context for various poems, reading prompts and more!
As part as our reading journey, Jordan Rannells has once again created a soundscape, this time for The Adventures of Tom Bombadil for all paid subscribers! Soundscapes are original music and sound design that are meant to accompany your reading and they really are such a lovely way to experience Tolkien’s works. Jordan’s soundscape for Smith of Wootton Major by J.R.R. Tolkien was such a delightful addition to our slow reading for our Faerie segment and I’m really excited that we now have a soundscape to accompany our reading of Tolkien’s poems!
Jordan has timed up nature sounds and music with the pacing of each poem to create a slow, cozy, and immersive reading experience: read about Tom Bombadil being pulled into the water by Goldberry with sounds of splashing water, listen to troll grunts and groans as you read The Stone Troll, hear cats meowing as you read Cat and spooky, echoing sounds when you read The Mewlips. You can play the audio as you read your physical book or you can sync it up with an audiobook version if you have that!
I can’t think of anything more perfect than the sounds of subtle music, birdsong, soft wind, and rustling grass and more as you read The Adventures of Tom Bombadil.
Huge thank you to Jordan Rannells enough for creating this for A Year of Tolkien. This is the perfect way to slow down and really make your reading an extra special cozy experience. I hope you all enjoy!
Below, paid subscribers will find access to play the soundscape.
